Using the Free StudioMetronome.pro (Quick Start)
Step 1: Sign in (required)
StudioMetronome.pro requires sign-in before use so your setlists and settings can be saved across devices.
- Choose Google sign-in or Email sign-in
- After login, your profile is created automatically
Step 2: Set your tempo (BPM)
BPM means beats per minute.
- Tap the + / – to adjust
- Or use Tap Tempo (next step)
Tip: If you're practicing something hard, slow down until you can play it cleanly.
Step 3: Use Tap Tempo
Tap Tempo is for matching a real song speed.
- Tap the button 6–10 times
- The BPM will settle on your average tapping speed
Tip: Tap with the beat of the song, not your fastest finger speed.
Step 4: Choose a time signature
Time signature tells the metronome how many beats are in a bar.
Common choices:
- 4/4: most pop/rock
- 3/4: waltz feel
- 6/8: "1-2-3 4-5-6" rolling feel
- 7/8 / 5/4: odd time practice
Pick the one that matches what you're learning.
Step 5: Choose subdivisions
Subdivisions help you practice timing inside the beat.
- Quarter
- 8th
- Triplet
- 16th
Start with fewer clicks. More clicks aren't always better.
Step 6: Use per-beat volume (the "Beat Blocks")
This is where StudioMetronome.pro becomes serious.
For each beat in the bar, you can set volume:
- 0% = muted beat
- higher = louder beat
Examples:
- Backbeat feel: beat 2 loud, beat 4 medium, others softer
- Accent downbeat: beat 1 loud, others softer
- Groove training: mute beat 1 sometimes to test your internal time
Step 7: Hit Play
Press Play to start. Press again to stop.
If your browser pauses audio (can happen in some cases), you'll see a clear message and you can resume with Play.
Step 8: Save a setlist
A setlist is a list of songs/exercises with their BPM and settings.
- Create a setlist (example: "Gig Set" or "Warmups")
- Add items with: song name, BPM, time signature, subdivision, per-beat volumes
This is the "practice dashboard" part: fast switching, no fiddling.
